No matter how large or small of a community you reside in, quality of life is important. Quality of life means safety for our families, excellence in education for both children and adults, venues for entertainment, quality parks and recreation programs, and most importantly, a sense of belonging. When you make the decision to relocate to Borger you immediately have a sense of belonging and will be quick to realize that the quality of life in Borger is superb.
In fact, Borger may be one of the best undiscovered secrets of the Southwest. The city is located on the high plains with native cactus, wild flowers, cattle, windmills, and oil wells. Most days start with beautiful sunrises and end with brilliant sunsets stretching across vast horizons. Moreover, there’s an average of 326 of sunshine each year! There are no traffic jams, smog, and no long waiting lines to create frustration that eats time out of life. People are helpful and friendly. Most are descended from pioneer immigrants instilled with strong work ethics.
Borger has over 50 churches, numerous civic and charitable organizations, over 30 restaurants, and two 18-hole golf courses. Being involved in the community is easy, click here to see our extensive list of local clubs and groups. If you have children and want to learn more about the Borger Independent School District, click here. If you are into museums, check out the Hutchinson County Museum’s website. Borger is also home to a publicly-funded community college, Frank Phillips College. Frank Phillips College has a community activity center with membership open to the public. The activity center features an indoor Olympic-sized swimming pool, men’s and women’s exercise equipment, racquetball, and basketball. Click here to visit Frank Phillips website.
We also have a newly remodeled three screen cinema, the Morley Theatre. The cinema features a 550 seat auditorium, complete with balcony! It is the largest screen in the Texas Panhandle. The Morley Theatre only shows first-run movies so you are guaranteed to see movies when they are leased without the hassle, time, and expense of driving to a larger community. Check out what’s playing at the Morley now!
Visit Borger and we think you will agree that you won’t find a better place to live, work, and play!

Humidity averages are low, occasionally dropping below 20 percent in the spring. Low humidity moderates the effect of high summer afternoon temperatures, permits evaporative cooling systems to be very effective, and provides many pleasant evenings and nights.
Severe local storms are infrequent, although a few thunderstorms with damaging hail, lightning, and wind in a very localized area occur most years, usually in spring and summer. These storms are often accompanied by very heavy rain, which produces local flooding, particularly of roads and streets. Tornadoes are rare. There has been one tornado in Hutchinson county in the last ten years and it was a class F1.
