CITY OF LITTLEFIELD WATER
The City of Littlefield has the ability to supply water from three separate sources. Littlefield has the sandhill well field as its main source of water with alternate sources of the old well field and a main transmission line running from Muleshoe, Texas to Lubbock, Texas.
The sandhill field consists of 7,360 acres of water rights located north of Littlefield and connected to Littlefield by a 24 main transmission line. Capacity is produced by water wells currently located in this field. Any increased capacity needs could by accomplished by drilling additional wells in this field.
The old well field consists of 354 acres of land and water rights located northeast of Littlefield. This field contains six wells with a capacity of 2.16 million gallons of water per day.
The pumping capacity of both fields combined gives a total pumping capacity of 6.06 million gallons of water per day. the maximum daily consumption rate for Littlefield is 4.085 million gallons per day. From these figures, it is apparent that Littlefield has approximately two million gallons per day water surplus (capacity less maximum daily usage).
Ground storage capacity for Littlefield is 1.318 million gallons of water. This storage is located in five reservoirs ranging from 160,000 to 208,000 gallons.
Littlefield has a total of three elevated storage tanks ranging in size from 75,000 to 500,000 gallons.
